historic fishing town, on a peninsula by Choctawhatchee Bay, offers Bay and Gulf
waters for fishing and swimming. "The sand is white, the water is Caribbean
aqua blue and the public beaches have nice cabanas for changing," says
Karlette Baker, a mother of three from Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Bakers, who
vacation in Destin annually, try a new motel each time they visit. "In a
typical day," says Karlette, "we'll spend the morning on the beach,
then go home to rest and do the pool, then play a round of Putt-Putt golf and go
out to dinner."
