Trails |
Eastern Lake Bike/Hike Trail (1.1
Miles south of Hwy 98 850-231-5800): The trail is a 10-mile loop in the
Point Washington State Forest with parking on CR 395. Bring water.
Contact Point Washington State Forest Field Office on Hwy 98, 2.5 miles east of
CR 395 for more information.
Scenic 30-A Bike/Hike Trail (South side of Scenic 30-A): This newly paved
trail encourages biking, jogging and walking along the scenic views of sea-side
towns and spectacular Gulf views.

Clement E. Taylor Park

Located on Choctawhatchee Bay. Shade trees with picnic tables, playground equipment and restrooms.
Eden State Gardens
(Point Washington, approx. 25 miles E of FWB, 850-231-4214)
A 1895 Greek revival estate surrounded by gardens overlooking the Choctawhatchee Bay. Admission charge.
Eglin Reservation
(North of Fort Walton Beach)
464,316 acres in Okaloosa Country, half is for public recreation. Forest, rivers, lakes, hunting, camping fishing. Free permits are required for the reservation, and they can be acquired at the Jackson Guard Station on Hwy 85, north of Niceville. Small fees are charged for hunting and fishing for ages 15 through 65.
Florida Caverns
(Marianna, approx. 90 miles from FWB, 482-9598)
Florida's only limestone caverns containing stalactites and stalagmites. Guided tours available through 3-4 miles of lighted passageways. Museum and natural rock gardens. Admission charge.
Fred Gannon State Recreation Area
(East of Niceville 897-3222)
Overlooking Rocky Bayou, an arm of Choctawhatchee Bay. Freshwater and saltwater fishing, campsites, picnic shelters, boating and other outdoor activities. Ranger-guided tours and campfire programs are offered seasonally.
Grayton Beach State Park

Heritage Museum

Located just a few minutes from the East Gate of Eglin Air Force Base. The
Heritage Museum features exhibits that illustrate the history of NW

Indian Temple Mound
Museum (Fort Walton Beach)
Admission $2. A 20,000 piece exhibit showcasing America's largest
collection of Southeastern Indian ceramic artifacts found in a 40-mile
radius of the downtown area. A temple mound, once used by Native Americans
for political and religious ceremonies, is just outside the museum.

Office (Destin)
